CC - Round 3 Pg 1 - Melanie

<sub>It was a peaceful day on the small route to the Lake of Rage and Ayumi was so bored.

“Where could my partner be?” she asked her Glaceon who was sitting beside her on a park bench overlooking the path. “All I got was a note with his and his Pokémon’s names. I bet his Pokémon is icky. He is probably ugly, too…”

As Ayumi pouted with impatience at this ugly-nuisance-of-a-partner, her Glaceon’s ears perked up, sensing something nearby. It wasn’t a wild Pokémon; in fact, a Pokémon of this species was rare to find in the wilderness. Stepping away from the girl on the park bench, the Glaceon approached a fellow Eeveelution.

“<Excuse me, are you Frankenstein?>”

“<Why, yes, I am>” the foreign Umbreon replied. If this was the case, then his owner was surely to be close by…

Finally noticing her Pokémon was missing, Ayumi looked over in the two’s direction. “Eh? Who are you – OMG!!!”

Without any warning, the young woman glomped Frankenstein so hard, he figured his innards must have ruptured. “You are so cute~! Can I take you home?”

“Uh… I don’t think you can...” A figure came within seeing distance on the path. The person was barely taller than Ayumi, with short, blonde hair, and a slight scowl that seemed permanently etched into the person’s face. The only likely conclusion was that this was the ‘Mel’ who had signed the note.

Ayumi’s only reaction was, He’s cute, too~!

“Hi! I’m Ayumi, your partner!”

“And I’m Melanie. Uh, nice to meet you…?”

“Wait, Melanie?”

Mel could see the sudden disappointment in the girl’s face. It was like someone just told her that Santa Claus wasn’t real but continued to put on the beard and costume.

“What is it?”

The girl gave a long sigh, then continued. “It’s just, as a boy you’re pretty cute, but as a girl… you’re kind of PLAIN.”

And that was the straw that broke the Numel’s back.

“Oh, really?” Mel sneered, her permanent scowl etching itself deeper. The two Eeveelutions flinched at the rising animosity between the girls. “I can tell that we’ll be getting along just swimmingly.”</sub>

Right when I feel like giving up on this OCT, I get brought back by ~SSTG's submissions. The next pages will likely be in all digital and/or look like crap, but I want to finish this round d--mit! Which is why I'm trying my hand at splash pages. Writing? What writing? ;_;

I was going to try a comic a long time ago, but realized that college doesn't allow much for free time, so here's the scrapped WIP. It follows the description quite a bit, up until the drama starts to kick up. :'D
